Redecorating My Blog!!

Just a little info here. I have spent the evening, working on making my blog a 3 column blog. I found this blog from SITS The Coolest Mom On The Block. It's a great blog, stop by and visit her, if you get a chance. Anyway, Cheryl, from The Coolest Mom, she had this link to here and I followed the easy instructions provided and was able to create a 3 column blog. I do have a little work to still do on my blog though.

Look around and let me know whatcha think.

Small Talk 6 Saturday----Things That Make Me Sick, But I Eat'em Anyway!!

Small Talk Six Saturdays is a weekly Meme created by MomDot to engage conversations during the “slower” Blog Saturdays.Every week, those participating respond to a different topic. The response is done in 6; either 6 words, 6 paragraphs, photos etc…

This weeks Small Talk 6 topic is 6 things that make me sick, but I eat them anyway. I have GERD and IBS, so over the years I have learned to mostly avoid eating things that make me sick to eat. But sometimes I just give into temptation, and eat them anyway.

#1.) My most favorite of all and I eat this one quite often. Popcorn. But I suffer from it later.

#2.) Sausage--I love sausage, but I get horrible indigestion when I eat it. This causes some disagreements with Hubby. His favorite pizza is....you got it.....Sausage. But over the last 5 years, he's learned to comprise. We now get half and half pizza toppings.

#.3) Milk Shakes---I love milk shakes, but I get a bloated tummy feeling. I give into this one too. :)

#4.) Corn---It hurts my tummy too. But I do love corn on the cob.

#5.) Pickles--They give me indigestion. But come on, what's life without a dill pickle.

#6.) Mexican Food---Also gives me indigestion. But Hubby loves it, so I often give in and eat it.

I forgot about my Friday Fragments and Flashback Friday Photo. Stay tuned, I be back with that next week.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I've Gone Furniture Shoppin'!

This about says it all!!
I saw this an thought it was too cute!
We have been doin' some furniture shoppin'. We moved into our new house last June and we still haven't found an entertainment center that we both like for our living room. I pretty much have the den area done, we spend 90% of our time in there anyway. But our living room has only the basics. We have a complete blank long wall, that has just been waiting for and entertainment center.

Of course, Hubby and I both have to agree on it, since it is a big purchase. We have looked and looked and looked and.....well you get the idea. We find one that I like, or he likes, or one we can't afford. Hubby refuses to use credit, (which is a good thing) So we haven't found THE ONE that fits all 3 requirements.

But finally we found one. It is beautiful. We haven't got it delivered yet, but I do have a picture of it. Hopefully soon, I am going to get that digital camera... anyhoo, that's another story entirely...:)

Here's the entertainment center. It's a lovely dark coffee color for the wood. It matches our furniture perfect. Now we have to get a TV to go in it. Ugghhhh... It's never ending.

I also have a little hallway area by my kitchen, that I think this Bombay chest will be perfect in. I need something to go there, because I want to store table linens and party platters, etc. in it. It is from the same set as the entertainment center.

I hope everyone is having a great evening! Hubs and I are watching the Cubs. Our favorite pitcher, Zambrano, got suspended last night. He has a slight temper. Oh well...the boys of summer are cranking up.

Tomorrow my Mama is having a breast biopsy. Please pray for her as she goes through this time.

Feeling Much Better!!

Thank ya'll so much for your prayers!

I am feeling soooo much better! Thank you all for all the prayers you sent up for me. Yesterday afternoon, I was finally able to take a deep breath. Today, I have just been doing it and savoring the feeling. Ahhhh, it is good to breathe! lol!

I don't believe in coincidences, I know that the POWER of Prayer is a magnificent thing. My being able to breathe deeply and freely, on the same day as I asked for prayer, is a direct result of God's work. So again thanks all you prayer warrior out there.

I have mentioned, from time to time, my 2 lovable Maine Coon kitties. Lizzie and Elvis. Lizzie is Elvis' mom. We got Lizzie when she was 6 months old. I used to work at a veterinarian clinic and they had her picture posted to the bulletin board in the waiting room. She was sooo cute, and she was free! What more could I ask for right?

I took the picture home and the kids and I had a pow-wow. Hubby had said, No Pets. So we discussed ways to approach the subject with him. I didn't want to just show up with her. But once he saw her pretty picture...well the rest is history. We called the people up and then we went and got our Lizzie.

She has such a personality! Very prissy! She's definitely the boss around our house. We let her have one litter of kittens and then we got her spayed. I highly recommend spaying and neutering your animals. Much to much are abandoned. Out of the litter we kept Elvis.

He is such a goof ball, and he's huge! He is 14 inches long and probably weighs about 12lbs. Since we have had him since he was born, (Jacky and I watched Lizzie give birth to the kittens) he will let us do just about anything to him. We just roll him around like a big fur ball.

As you know I have no biological children, 3 step children and 2 nieces, so Elvis and Lizzie get a lot of my attention. Does that make me and old cat lady? I hope not. Ha!!

I also mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I want to start a meme on Wednesdays. I plan on doing that. But, in loo of being sick, I just haven't been on the ball with that. But it's coming. I promise! :)

I hope everyone has a great night.

I have been holdin' out on you guys.

I have been holding out on you guys. I have asthma, I've had it since I was 3 years old. I have been very fortunate to not really have had much of a problem with it since I was about 21 or so, but when I got married and moved up to New England, well.....things changed. They have been some better now that we live in the midwest but...

When I was a kid, I took allergy shots twice a week for years. I finally seemed to beat not being able to breathe. Ha! My parents didn't really understand how dangerous asthma can be, so I would have asthma attacks and I can remember sleeping sitting up. I didn't ever go to the ER. It was just something I dealt with.

I guess that's sort of how I deal with it today. I don't want to bring any undue attention to myself. But sometimes I just can't breathe. My Hubby can't understand it. We live in a 2 story home, and there are times when just going up the stairs wipes me out. Walking around in my yard, looking at all my lovely flowers I planted weeks ago, wipes me out.

The reason I have been so asthmatic lately is due to being exposed to second hand smoke. I didn't even realize it at the time. We were staying in a hotel in a non-smoking room, but the room next to ours was a smoker. I guess there was cross ventilation.

This morning I am feeling the best I have felt in over a week. I can walk to the bathroom and not get short of breath. I'm not telling this to get pity or sympathy from anyone. I just wanted to talk about it. Over the weekend I watched the kids run around and I couldn't even walk to the bathroom. I felt so frustrated. They want me to be energetic and play with them outside and stuff. I usually do. I just couldn't this time.

Hubby wanted me to go on a family outing. He just couldn't understand. I couldn't breathe. I have a nebulizer breathing machine at home, I have all the inhalers and everything. I just have to take it slow and recover from the exposure to smoke. It's not something that gets taken care of in one day. It's a process.

Back at Christmas I had the same problem. Who knew that in Illinois, you need to have a humidifier in your home, because when it's -20 below outside, the air in your home is drier than a desert? I, being from a humid area like South Mississippi, didn't know that. We had to call 911 and have an ambulance come get me.

I know this is a rambling post. I just get discouraged with myself, because I want to be doing so many things, around my house, outside in the beautiful spring weather. You get the picture. I guess, I'm asking that you please pray that my lungs get better. It's so hard for me to ask for prayer for myself.

Thanks so much for listening to me ramble on, my thoughts are scattered this early morning.

New Ohio Roller Coaster, Ride It If you Dare!!! :)

I hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day! The weekend here in Chicagoland was beautiful. We had the kids at our house and on Saturday my Mama and my 2 nieces came to visit and they spent the night. We had a BBQ yesterday.
I missed a couple to post that I do regularly. My Friday fragments and Saturday 6. I have been having computer trouble for a few days. Our Internet connection has been acting up. Believe me, this caused quite a few issues with the kids this weekend. They can't live without technology. I told them when I was a kid, we had a TV that got 3 channels and no cell phones, computers, or xbox360. They were horrified. Yep, we had to use our wonderful imaginations, in those days. What fun we had too. But that's for another post.
My friend Cindy, sent me this cute email, about this new roller coaster in Ohio. I love riding roller coasters, but I don't think I will be trying this one anytime soon.

The Last Picture Says it All!!

I think that about says it all!!

I hope ya'll enjoy your holiday, and for those of you who serve our country, thank you for all you do.

Psalm 1 "Blessed is he who shall follow the Lord....."

This is one of my most favorite Psalms. When my Bobo (grandpa) passed away this was the scripture read at his funeral. I find myself singing this Psalm in my head quite often.

The more we are immersed in God's word the more it is alive within us. Lately I have been so busy, that I haven't been reading my Bible the way I should. And it is true, if we aren't dwelling in the Word, then we aren't as close to the Father as we are when we are in HIs Word daily.

I am so thankful that I have the tools of memory, to bring forth scripture, even when I am not reading the Bible. I find myself constantly reciting verses in my head or singing a hymn, or some little song I learned in Vacation Bible School. But nothing is a substitute for daily reading God's Word.

Dear God, Please forgive me for not being in Your Word daily. I ask that you will give me the thrist to go daily and drink from my Bible.

I ask these things in Your Son, Jesus name.
Amen

This weeks topic is 6 pieces of advice you think is obvious, but that some people just need to hear......

#1.) Don't drink and drive.

#2.) Say no to drugs.

#3.) Please don't wear low rise jeans with a thong. We really do not want to see the view of your underwear.

#4.) One random act of kindness a day can change the world.

#5.) My Mama used to tell me this one and I now find myself repeating it to my kids. Always leave the house wearing a clean pair of underwear.

#6.) Choose your friends wisely.
Have a great Saturday everyone!! Spend it with someone you love.

Just a Day Late....Friday Fragments & Flashback Friday

Yesterday (Friday) I was sooo under the weather. I had not slept at all Thursday night due to having an asthma attack, so I got a little behind on my posting. I am feeling some better today. So Today I'm gonna make up for Friday, because I do so enjoy doing the Friday Fragments and Friday Photo Flashback.

So many fragments, so little time. That's why, if you write them down and save them all for a Friday Fragments post, you will find it very satisfying. Welcome to Friday Fragments, the home for those tidbits from your week that entertained you, puzzled you, or just made you happy. To find out more about Friday Fragments and how you to can be apart of it on your blog go to Half Past Kissin' Time.

I didn't keep up with a very good list of stuff for my Fragments list this week. So here goes nothing!

***I have a memory verse posted at our house on the fridge and on the bathroom mirror. I switch it every month or so. The one I have up right now is "Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently search for him." Hebrews 11:6

***I bought a pack of gum the other day and it was a whopping $1.69. What happened to .25 cents a pack?

***I woke up this morning and Hubby was cleaning the house. He's terrific and very sexy with the vacuum cleaner! LOL!!

***I saw a sign at a church, it said "May is God's apology for February" I liked that, and I can see how that can apply in the northern states, but having lived most of my life down South, February wasn't really so bad (at least in Southern Mississippi)

***And here's something that I have been wondering about lately, you tell me whatcha think. "What can first, the chicken or the egg?" Just a thought.....sometimes by brain does strange things.....go figure.

***I am so proud of myself, I finally figured out how to add Mr. Linky to my blog. Yeah Me!! ha, ha!!

Ok, I also really like this great meme that my friend Alicia is doing at More Than Words. It's called Friday Photo Flashback. Go over to her site to read more about it.

Christmas in college!! It was at my apartment. That's me in the middle with the wearing the Santa hat. Those were some of the best times of my life. And also the friends in the picture are some of my best friends ever. God truly blessed me, when I was in college. He lead to a great group of friends, through the Baptist Student Union. BSU. I grew so much as a Christian during that time.

On The Road Wednesday!! (ChiTowne)

I am starting a new meme! Everyone lives in a unique place and every place has something that is very special about it. So if you want to join along, please post about your favorite town, your hometown, what ever is your favorite about that place, food from there that maybe your favorite, etc.... you get the idea. Feel free to post a picture or 2 along with each weeks post. This will be a fun way to get to no one another better!! :) I look forward all the virtual trips I am gonna get to take!! Yeah, travel, I love it, and I can do it all from the comfort of my own home. Be sure to link up with Mr. Linky at the end of this post. So pack your virtual suitcase and let's go on the road! Have fun!!

I have been to a lot of places in the good ole U.S. of A. and Chicago has some of my most favorite places & things. I'm gonna to do a little series of post, about my favorite things, in Chicagoland.

Before I moved to the Chicagoland area, I had been there to visit probably about 5 times. My friend Lisa and I went to see the Cubs play. We are both HUGE Cubs fans and we always managed to work a vacation around a Cubs series!!

So with that said my most very favorite place in the whole vast wonderful city of Chicago is..............................................................

Wrigley Field

There is no better place on earth to watch a baseball game. If you haven't been there, you need to try to go.

I invite you to follow along with this little meme and list your town/state and some of your favorite things.

Amish Country!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!! All was quite around here. The kids spent the day with their Bio-mom and Hubby and I took a ride.

We drove over to Indiana Amish Country!! Beautiful!! Beautiful!! I am so amazed at these people. You know how you always see them on TV and to see it in real life is breath taking. They really live the best life. Here we all think, we have it made with our computer technology and cars and such. They are the ones that have it made.

You know we didn't see on ove weight Amish person. They eat to good, for them to get over weight (no junk food) and they aren't couch potatoes or computer nerds. I did feel sort of out of place. I felt like I was starring at them, but I honestly didn't mean too. Hubby asked me if we should take pictures. I said no, that I thought that would be rude. But we did take some pictures of the scenery.

My computer is running terribly slow tonight, so I will have to post those pictures another day!

All in all we had a magnificent day. The weather was beautiful and the company (Hubby) couldn't have been better! :) We stopped at a small Inn type place and ate dinner, then drove back in to Chicagoland.

I didn't get to post God Answers Prayers Sunday. So today I am asking that if any of you has a prayer request, let me know and I will pray for you everyday this week.

I do have a prayer request. My Mama, got so lab results back and her blood sugar is high and her cholesterol. She was all told that she needs to be tested for Lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis. So please pray for my Mama!

In Christ Love,

Renee

Friday Fragments & Friday Photo Flashback!!

So many fragments, so little time. That's why, if you write them down and save them all for a Friday Fragments post, you will find it very satisfying. Welcome to Friday Fragments, the home for those tidbits from your week that entertained you, puzzled you, or just made you happy. ***After watching the clip of our wonderful Vice President warning us, about how the germs from a sneeze travel all throughout a confined space. I had an attack of Hay Fever the other day, while out doing some errands. I couldn't quit sneezing. Then my eyes started to water. I got some really strange looks when I made a quick stop at the convenience store to get some allergy meds. I just know everyone thinks I have the swine flu!! People were giving me a wide berth!! Now I know how people with leporsy must have felt! LOL!

***While working in the yard with Hubby, I noticed he wasn't around. He was supposed to be helping. I searched for him and he was sitting in the car, cleaning it out (he says)!! I say I thought you were supposed to be helping me!! Go Figure!! Good help is sometimes hard to find. (Hubby is my best friend, I love him so much!! Really)

***Do we have to watch Wrestling every time it's on TV?

***Did you know that you can get an entire set of "beautiful" Star Trek glassware from Burger King for 1.99 a glass. I guess the Star Trek band wagon is still going strong. I didn't even know that there was another movie coming out. I guess it's Star Trek 15 or something. LOL!! If you're a Star Trek fan, I mean no offense!!
***Niko informed that I use the word (Great) to much!! He says that it is a dead word. I need to up my vocabulary.

Ok, I also really like this great meme that my friend Alicia is doing at More Than Words. It's called Friday Photo Flashback. Go over to her site to read more about it.

This is a picture from Easter 1996. It's of me and 4 of my best buds. Don't we look fine. I'm on the right on the end.

Have a great day and Please continue to pray for my friend Grits Girl. Her Dad gets the test results back on the 12th. Please stop by her blog and show her some support and let her know you are praying for her and her family.

In Christ Love,

Am I the Only One Who Finds This Commerical Weird?

Today I don't have much time to write a regular post. It's my Mama's Birthday and I am spending it with her.

But I did want to take a minute to post a little something. I saw this commerical the other day. I think it's so weird. It's disturbing to me, that the children have a hole in their back for this wind up thingy to fit in. I'm just sayin' it's weird!! LOL!!

I hope ya'll have a great day.

Caffiene Please!! & Prayer Request!!

I need caffiene! I couldn't sleep at all last night. I finally fell asleep around 5 a.m. this morning. There is so much to do around here, and I have no energy to get it done. You remember that TV show Bewitched? I wish I could just twitch my nose and Bamm everything is all nice and tidy. Wouldn't that be marvelous? I think so. :) It's a nice idea it entertain.

I also wanted to ask you guys to please pray for my blog friend Grits Girl. Her Daddy has been diagnosed with cancer. They've done some other test, to find out how advanced the cancer is. You can visit her blog to read her story. They would all appreciate your prayers, as they go through this very hard time as a family. Please hop over and let them know you are supporting them through your prayers.

"Carry each other's burdens and in this way you will fullfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2

Girl Talk!

I wanted to write about something a little different today. Back in the day, I loved it, when I worked at the hospital, and we girls would all get together and discuss the latest beauty products, what hair styles we liked, maybe pour over catalogs to pick out a new swimsuit (I personally didn't like this one topic) LOL!!. But you get the picture. Girl talk, chit chat. Fun times (at least for me)

So let's chat for a bit, about beauty products. Come on in and get comfortable. Can I offer you a glass of tea? Maybe pop a bowl of popcorn? I feel a little snacky.
I'm not sure about you, but I've been trying to find little ways here and there to save money in this tough economy. Some of the ways I'm trying to save, is in my beauty products.

I used to spend x amount of dollars on a department store brand from the Mall, and then on a Pink brand that I bought from a wonderful lady that gave me an awesome facial in my home, and convinced me that I couldn't do without the wonderful Pink products. Ha!! She is probably driving a wonderful Pink Caddy right now.

But, while all these brands are certainly good, I got to thinking, why spend that money on those products, if I can find something that works for me just as well, but is considerably less expensive. I found a couple of neat products that I've found I like to use and they are available at Target, Wal-mart or K-mart. And they don't hurt the pocketbook one little bit.

I have large pores on my cheeks and nose, so I have always used a pore minimizer. I've spent about 14.00, for the mask product before, but I found this brand for 5.50 or less. It works just as well and minimizes my pores just fine.

I also use an exfoliator in the shower. I had been paying 24.00 for one at the Mall. I found this one for 5.49. I used it for the first time yesterday and I love it.
So if you are looking for some ways to save, and haven't tried these St. Ives products before, try'em. I like them, you might too.

I hope this little change hasn't been to uninteresting. I've enjoyed chatting with you. I hope ya'll have a good night! If anyone else has any beauty tips, I am up to hearing them! "A penny saved is a penny earned" or something like that! Ha!
Jesus loves ya and I do too!!

The 'Burbs

For the past 3 days I have had a cold. It's really wiped me out and Hubby has been complaining because he has had to fend for himself...:( So we were a little on the outs with each other, but by last night he was ready to make up.

The only thing I ask for, when I'm sick, is that I get the same care and love that I give to others in my house, when they are sick. Is that too much to ask for I wonder? So as the day went on yesterday, I pouted because, well no one was giving me the special treatment I thought I deserved. It was just everything as usual. But then I guess the little light bulb went off in Hubby's head, and he became very solicitous. "What can I get for you Babe" "Are you alright, Sweetie" That kind of thing.

He even went out to get KFC, because I wasn't up to fixin' supper, and comes home with this huge cup of .....you got it...... ICE!! Just like I like it....(those of you who read my earlier post, know how I love ICE)

But then he made a fatal mistake, as far as he was concerned, he asked me what I wanted to watch on TV. I had recorded on the DVR, this great movie that I just LOVE....I think it's hilarious!! The Burbs Starring Tom Hanks, Have you seen it? It's an older movie, about these guys who all live on this street, and well they spy on their neighbors!! It's one of those funny comedies I can over and over, much to Hubby's despair! Lol!

It's a really cute movie and if you are ever in seach of something to watch at Blockbuster and can't find anything recent, take home The Burbs, and kick back with a bag of buttered popcorn and a big glasses of ICE cold Diet Coke, maybe a box of raisinettes! (another one of my secret favorite things) and enjoy the movie.

Oh and don't feel too sorry for poor Hubby, I did lay on the couch with my box of Kleenex and watch the entire Bulls-Celtics game 7. So I guess he can't really complain too much that I made him watch The Burbs.

Remember that today is God Answer's Prayers Sunday I need to get a button made up. Please leave me any prayer request that you have and I will pray for it everyday this week.

Have a great week,

Woooo Hoooo, It's Small Talk 6 Saturday!

This weeks topic is.....6 things you always wondered about any of your teachers or professors when you were in school.

I don't think I ever really gave my teachers or professors a whole lot of thought. But let's see what I can come up with.....

#1.) I had an English teacher in 11th grade, we all wondered if she wore a wig. I'm thinking, she probably did. My friends Tammy and Carol can probably tell me what they think about Mrs. Scott's hair....

#2.) How they were at home with their kids. Did they run the house like they ran the classroom?

#3.) We had a really cute history teacher in 10th grade and I sometimes wondered about what it might be like to .......dare I say it......Kiss Him.. There I said it. Sshhhh....Don't tell anyone ok!

#4.) I had an English Lit professor in college, that I often wondered what was she thinking when she put that outfit together. But hey, I guess she had her on sense of style. She didn't follow the crowd. Kudos for her. Today I respect that, back then I just thought it was weird.

#5.) I have often thought, does this professor even care that I have other classes, and atleast 10 other projects to finish? Probably not right? Just get the work done kid!

#6.) And last but not least, I had a history professor in college, that obviously wondered about me....for example....I decided to personally take 2 weeks off from his class for spring break. He made a point to welcome me back to class after this absence, in front of everyone. He also said, I must have really needed the extra time off. "Please tell us Miss Renee, what did you do on your extra time off". LOL....I never did that again, and I made dang sure I got a good grade in that class! :)

I really enjoy doing this meme. It's very thought provoking. I just thought about things, I haven't thought of in years...

I hope everyone has a super Saturday!!

In Christ Love,

Friday Fragments!! & Friday Photo Flashback!!

So many fragments, so little time. That's why, if you write them down and save them all for a Friday Fragments post, you will find it very satisfying. ***Hubby is mowing the yard. I am hoping he doesn't come in with any missing body parts!! I really need to refresh my first aid skills! LoL! He's never mowed the yard before (atleast not since we've been married) we have always had a lawn service. But in these times of recession, we are cutting back. We bought a used mower on craigslist and well the rest will be history I guess....

***You may have heard that actress Bea Arthur passed away this week. I loved her in the Golden Girls! She was a great big shouldered broad.

***I am totally getting flipped out about this swine flu thing. I went into Wal-Mart the other day, because I decided that we needed to have more hand sanitizer. Wal-Mart was sold out!! I guess I am not the only one flipping out!!

***Hubby and I are having a slight disagreement over our fridge's ice machine. It's broken (not making it's own ice) So you have to add bagged ice to it. I have been buying bagged ice. I like lots of ice in my Diet Coke. He says, make tray ice instead to save money.....It's just not the same!!! I never thought I would be an Ice Snob!!

***Our little baseball player Niko,(even though he would take offense to being called little) is getting comfortable with the game. That's wonderful!

***I saw a Cadillac dump truck the other day. Who knew they made those?

***It's May 1st and in Chicago it's a balmy 53 degrees! What's up with that? I need to have a talk with our weather man. I think he's confused. It's supposed to be Spring....HELLO!!

***I have a very neurotic cat, she will only drink water that is dripping out of the faucet!! I probably need to take her to a kitty psychiatrist. If you try to leave her some water in a bowl, she meows and aggravates you until you give in and turn the faucet on for her. "This is wasting water Lizzie, you gotta get a grip"

Ok, I also really like this great meme that my friend Alicia is doing at More Than Words. It's called Friday Photo Flashback. Go over to her site to read more about it.

Here's my photo. It's of my nieces about 5 years ago, they were both Minnie Mouse for Halloween.

I hope everyone has a Super Great Friday!! Remember to leave Comments!
