A Snow Day in Chicago

Today Hubby and I spent the afternoon in Chicago with Hubs, brother, dad and mom. We had a pretty good time. Every Monday and Tuesday for the month of February, it's free admission to all the museums. We picked the Shedd aquarium to go to. I've been to the aquarium in New Orleans, LA and Chattanooga, TN. I think I liked both of those better. But I guess it's all about the people you're with too and not necessarily what you're doing. Right???

Anyway, we had a bit of a snow storm last night and so there was plenty of snow in Chitowne to enjoy. I took quite a few pictures, hope you like them.

I'll have more pictures to upload tomorrow, of the fish:-)

Doing a Little Decorating,Watching Wrestling and Valentine's day

I hope ya'll had a terrific Valentines day. We had company all weekend. Friday we picked up Niko and then Sunday night Phil's family came over to visit and we all watched the TNA wrestling pay per view event together. Well, actually Phil's mom and I watched "The Proposal" in the den, but you get the idea:-)

Anyway, I finally found a entertainment center for my living room. After searching for almost 2 years for the perfect one. We found it on QVC. It has a built in electric fireplace and it is perfect in the space I wanted to place it in. When I get everything all set up, I'll take a picture and show you the completed project.
I also want to get wooden blinds to go throughout my living and dining rooms. I have found some at JCPenny online. I am going to work some extra shifts to get those.

I gotta get ready for work. Have a terrific day.

Yep, It's a Snow Day!!

Last night (Monday) it started snowing. The weather man said "it's going to be a relentless snow". He was right 24hrs later, it's still snowing. It's not supposed to stop until around noon tomorrow (Wednesday).

Handy had fun out in it today. I didn't have quite as much fun. Note to self, when getting snow off the car, try not to wipe it towards self, because the wind will blow it all in your face. (yep, I had that happen.) This southern girl, still has a lot to learn, when it comes to snow.

It's a Who Dat Kinda Day!!!

Wow, I can't believe 2 months have passed since my last post. I have been soooo, busy. I started a new part-time job at a local hospital. I really like it. I have been able to pick up extra hours, so I have really been working full-time. Also during this time, we have had drama going on with Hubby's ex-wife. Does it ever end? We've been to court and have court again at the end of this month. I'll tell you this though. I have definitely been able to see God's hand working in all of this mess.

I had a biopsy done on my face. I had a spot that used to be a freckle, but turned into a big itchy place. Thankfully it was benign. And Niko was in the hospital for 2 weeks, and then Hubby had surgery on his knee this past Friday. Whewww, that's a lot of stuff going on.

A bright spot in everything is, THE SAINTS!! WON the SUPER BOWL!! WOOO HOOO!!

WHO DAT SAY THEY GONNA BEAT DEM SAINTS? WHO DAT? WHO DAT? You should have seen me jumping up and down and hollering last night. I've been a Saints fan all my life, it has finally paid off. :-)

Hope ya'll have a good day. Please bear with me as I am doing my blog make over!!

Oh To Be a Kid Again!!

I can remember being a little girl and being soooo excited about Christmas and Santa Claus coming that on Christmas Eve I would have a fluttery stomach and could hardly go to sleep.

My sister and I got a Lite Brite for Christmas the year I was 7. I was over the moon for this toy. We played with that thing all day Christmas Day. I think my Mama got tired of vacuuming up lite brite pegs though.

I think back and remember some other of my favorite Christmas gifts.
Barbie was wonderful. She is still today. I got this one doll "Tuesday Taylor" you could turn the top of her head around and change the color of her hair from brown to blonde. How fun is that?

What are some of your favorite toys you received for Christmas?

Hears hopeing you have a wonderful Christmas Season. Remember Jesus Is The Reason for The Season.

Our Christmas Picture

I got the kids to wear Santa hats and sit still all at the same time. Not a small feat. Especially Niko. He told me he could only sit still for one or two pictures. "Not anymore than that Renee" he said. So I picked the best of the bunch and this is what I came up with. Take in to consideration that I had to use my cell phone. A camera is on my Christmas list.

I was playing with it on photobucket.
So it's a little blurred. It's still a work in progress. How do you think it turned out?

And of course we can't forget "Handy" and his cute little Christmas pic. He was the easiest to work with I think. Lol! We couldn't get the cats to settle down for a picture. But I'll keep trying.

I'm Giving Thanks With a Grateful Heart

Thanksgiving was wonderful. This year I did something I didn't do last year....I was organized! Lol. I started cleaning and baking on Wednesday, (but I think next year I might start on Tuesday.) We had 16 people. Our house seemed so cramped and small with all the people here. I told my Hubby. "We need about 10 more square feet"

We got a table from my MIL's church and also some chairs. We set everything up buffet style. I tripled all the recipes I made and we had a ton of food. My Hubby's mom always tells me she's concerned we are going to run out. I didn't want to hear it this time. So I made plenty. Guess what? She is now telling me we had way to much. Sometimes there is no satisfying.

My Mama, made some cute little party favor/napkin holders. She placed 5 kernels of dried corn in each little cloth sack and before we all ate, Hubby told the story of the Pilgrims and the Indians and the 5 kernels of corn. We all ate until we couldn't eat anymore. I was exhausted and then of course we had to get up bright and early on Friday to hit those sales.

Now I am getting my house back to normal, and ready for Christmas. I personally think that we should carry the season of Thanksgiving over into our Christmas season. I'm thankful for the manager that held my savior as an infant and Thankful for the cross that held Him as He died for you and for me.
